Favorite Class Lectures

Gender Inequality
Gender Inequality was my favorite lecture throughout the semester. This lecture gave me a encouragement. I started to be proud of myself that I am women. Our studies of history shows that male is more superior. Class discussed the play Antigone, Creon states that he will not allow a women to rule him. This shows that Greek women were limited on their political freedom. Creon also states that women are just objects for men to breed children. All of these examples shows that women had no power in ancient society. However in today's society ideas on "male is more superior than women" are almost gone. This lecture taught me that all gender created equally.
Idealism
Nothing in this world is perfect. Idealism is the oldest theory of philosophy. The word idealism has been derived from the word idea. One of my three favorite lectures was on Idealism. During the class lecture, we analyzed possible themes of the short story “The Birthmark” by Nathanial Hawthorne. The theme that we came up with was the pursuit of perfection.  This idealism lecture made me recognize and realize how much perfectionist I was. Everyone in this world wants to be perfect. I believe that it's all greed and perfections. I can't say that everyone in this world is perfect but they are all beautiful and created equal by God's hand.
Oppression
In this lecture, "The yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman shows great examples of oppression. In the story, unnamed women who was imprisoned in a house by her husband. The wallpaper introduces in the story which is a symbol reflecting her wish. woman sees behind the wallpaper is her own image trying to free from the oppressor who is her husband John. I enjoyed reading this story because oppression still exists in our society. I would like to find out and discuss more about oppression. Professor Brady discussed about dehumanization, imprisonment, and isolation. It was very exciting and interesting because oppression continues to be our issue.
